Chapter Structure - Key Positions
Listed are the principal Chapter Officer positions with job descriptions.
Chapter President
The
Chapter President shall communicate to all members such matters and make such suggestions as to promote the welfare and increase the usefulness of the chapter. The
Chapter President, with the approval of the Board of Directors, shall appoint committees, subcommittees, task forces and/or ad hoc committees, as are necessary and which are not in conflict with other provisions of the Bylaws. The
Chapter President shall perform such other duties as are incidental to the office.
Conduct Chapter board meetings
Present old/new business at each Chapter meeting.
Attend National Chapter Presidents’ meetings
Set overall tone and direction of Chapter
Provide long-term view and direction for Chapter
Be visible to membership through letters, signed certificates and President’s message in chapter communications.
Develop the Chapter’s resources by encouraging member participation
Continue research into education/internship programs
Represent Chapter at outside functions as needed
Serve as Past President after term(s) are completed.
Evaluate Chapter activities to make sure we are meeting members needs.
Notify National SOCAP office at beginning of new year as to which Officers/Board members should receive specific reports.

Chapter Vice-President: Programs
There shall be a
Chapter Vice President: Programs who shall be responsible for such duties as are assigned by the
Chapter President. The
Chapter Vice President: Programs shall perform the duties of the
Chapter President in the event of the
Chapter President’s inability to serve. The
Chapter Vice President: Programs shall also be responsible for developing ideas for increasing active membership and developing and executing chapter successful chapter programs.
Assist the Chapter President as needed
Attend National Chapter Presidents’ meetings when possible
Serve as Chair of the Programs Committee and develop chapter programming activities.
Communicate chapter programs to membership and encourage attendance
Greet members and guests at door of Chapter meetings. In planned absence, designate other board member to act in that capacity

Chapter Vice-President: Membership
There shall be a
Chapter Vice President: Membership who shall be responsible for such duties as are assigned by the
Chapter President. The
Chapter Vice President: Membership shall be responsible for developing ideas for increasing membership and encourage active membership.
Assist the Chapter President as needed
Attend National Chapter Presidents’ meetings when possible
Serve as Chair of the Membership Committee
Phone new members prior to chapter meetings and follow-up with new guests after meetings
Send welcome letter to new members
Greet members and guests at door of Chapter meetings.
Develop projects/programs that will increase and sustain membership
Coordinate Milestones of Membership Recognition Program

Chapter Secretary
There shall be a
Chapter Secretary/Historian who shall be responsible for the proper recording of proceedings of meetings of the Chapter. The
Chapter Secretary/Historian shall, in general, perform all duties incidental to the office of the
Chapter Secretary/Historian. The Chapter
Secretary/Historian shall also maintain all past history of the Chapter and represent the Chapter as the Historian. At the expiration of the
Chapter Secretary/Historian’s term of office, all books and other property shall be delivered to the elected successor, or in the absence of a successor, such property shall be delivered to the
Chapter President.
Keep accurate minutes of all board meetings
Send copies of minutes to the SOCAP office and each board member
Assist with official correspondence
Maintain an archives file (including newsletters, meeting announcements, minutes, etc.)
Send notice to board members of date, time and place of board meetings and assist with any arrangements required
Assist with the registration at Chapter meetings as needed
Update the board phone/fax/email list for the January meeting and also distribute copies to SOCAP and each board member

Chapter Treasurer
There shall be a
Chapter Treasurer who shall be responsible for the receipt of all members’ assessments by the Chapter, and establishing and following proper accounting procedures. The
Chapter Treasurer shall, in general, perform all duties incidental to the office of the
Chapter Treasurer. At the end of the fiscal year, the
Chapter Treasurer shall prepare an annual report to be submitted to the SOCAP Treasurer and may be subject to an audit. At the expiration of Chapter Treasurer’s term of office, all books, money and other property shall be delivered to the elected successor, or in the absence of a successor, such property shall be delivered to the
Chapter President.
Keep books updated and balanced
Pay bills timely
Keep board informed of the Chapter’s financial status on at least a quarterly and year-to-date basis. Report should be made at each board meeting
Maintain separate operating and reserve funds
Prepare annual report for SOCAP
Assist with registration at Chapter meetings as needed and follow-up with any individuals who may owe the Chapter fees
Recommend wise investments for reserve funds

Chapter Technology Officer
There shall be a
Chapter Technology Officer who shall be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of all Chapter based technology mediums including but not limited to: local chapter website, LinkedIn group account, Facebook shared fan page and other social media solutions identified by the
Chapter President. The
Chapter Technology Officer will review contractual agreements on an annual basis to ensure the local website is cost effective / competitive and that content included on all social media publications are professional in tone and represent the local and national SOCAP mission properly.
Maintain site content material on a routine basis as defined by the chapter president.
Work with technical web development team to revise material as needed.
Work with technical web development team to address timely outage or service interruptions.
Promote cross selling of website real estate as an added revenue stream for the local chapter by advertising with vendors as appropriate and agreed upon by the local chapter board.
Maintain and update content material on identified chapter social media forums including LinkedIn, Facebook and others as identified by the local chapter board.
Recommend wise technology investments which promote outreach within the local chapter to grow the membership base while further encouraging networking capabilities with existing chapter members.
